Vizeadmiral Lothar von Arnauld de la Perire , born in Posen and of French descent, was a German Uboat commander during World War I. In 1757 France, after a duel with a Prince de Bourbon, JeanGabriel Arnauld, Seigneur de la Perire, a young artillery officer agedin Saint Plantaire , had to leave the country to avoid being imprisoned. He went to Prussia and joined the army of Frederick the Great, King of Prussia. Because of his noble descent, he became a member of the Prussian nobility, and because of his service he attained the rank of three star general. Married three times, he hadchildren. His 12th, Eugen Ahasverus Albertus, born in 1800, was the grandfather of Lothar von Arnauld de la Perire.
